President Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19

Updated: Nov 8, 2020

There is a lot of scrutiny on the medical team for President Trump. My husband is ranting at the announcements, believing that the doctors are lying. It is so tough to be a doctor, which you are obligated in the interest of the patient to not disclose information. Yet, here the reporters are jumping down the physicians throat. When the physician says he does not know if President Trump's pulsoximetry was reading 93% or 94% and whether the nursing team needed to apply supplemental oxygen, he truly may not know.

Physicians cannot stand beside their patients in their PPE all day and night. I am sorry. There is a reason that there is a medical team.

But what I was interested in was the use of dexamethasone for what the doctors mention are mild symptoms. The reasons for using a steroid are to suppress the immune system, in the chance that the patient is developing a cytokine storm which can be detrimental to the survival of the patient.

In case you can't recall, I have mentioned the possible use of serum antibodies in the treatment for patients with newly acquired infections. One of the therapies that the president received was antibodies. These antibodies bind to the virus, which are then recognized by the immune system to clear and deactivate the virions. It seems that it was a synthetic antibody constructed in a laboratory that is currently undergoing clinical trials.

He is also on an anti-viral medication called Remdesivir - which seems to have been useful in treatment against SARS and MERS.

They say that President Trump is to make a full recovery. But I guess only time will tell.
